Designer Profile : John Minshaw

There is something bold and dramatic about the work of London based designer John Minshaw. Although his spaces are somewhat minimalist in nature, they carry a depth and richness that surpasses many of the most opulent homes I've seen in a while.

Red Rover, Red Rover

Red can be a difficult color to use properly in excess, but the perfect choice as a bold accent selection. Use it sparingly and you will not be disappointed in the powerful results.

Lattice Lust

Lately I have really fallen in love with the diversity of lattice back chairs. They are perfect for practically every setting (dining, office, living room, etc…) and can blend with practically any style. A simple paint job and a new cushion can transform it from a traditional dining chair to a quirky addition at your desk or vice versa.

An A+ for Atlanta

This Atlanta home was recently featured in Traditional Homes. The use of color is great and also very controlled. In the master bath, the simplicity of the drapes and chandelier let the soaking tub take center stage; and the monogrammed chairs at the heads of the dining table provide a personalized touch that can eventually be handed down as family heirlooms. This residence is a wonderful example of a traditional space with a slight modern twists.

Golden State

Craftsman Jared Rusten has really developed a name for himself with this “California” series of desks and tables. It does not take a native of the state to appreciate the detail Rusten puts in to making each piece feel like your very own mini California, in the comfort of your own home!

Celebrity Style Feature

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi recently opened their Beverly Hills home to Architectural Digest. The deep sofas covered in pillows in front of the fireplace are the perfect place to cozy up and read a book or have a conversation with friends. The clear ping pong table in the entrance hall is such a fun element and what Beverly Hills mansion would be complete without a backyard like this one?!

Pet Friendly Pads

Everyone loves a beautiful space, but we all know a house is not a home without the people (and pets), that we love the most.
