The New Hue for 2011

Today color authority Pantone announced that its color of the year for 2011 is an intense pink it calls "honeysuckle." Pantone predicts that we're about to see a lot of this color, appearing on everything from designer pillows, water bottles, nail polish, sofas & appliances. This hue is a sherbety shade of pink, with a hint of red and orange zest, honeysuckle is seen by designers as a pick-me-up at a time when many people have had their fill of misfortune. The arrival of pink now doesn't mean that Turquoise the Pantone color of 2010 will disappear from the market, just that other shades of blue-green are expected to be popular in 2011.

Rustic Chic

The beginning of December marks the start of the holiday season and the desire to curl up by a roaring fire; because San Diego does not have much in the way of snow I thought I would share with you a family who originally from Newport, CA made the ultimate wintery retreat in Ketchum, Idaho. The Turners wanted a rustic home that did not look like a luxury log home or a modern ski chalet. In Mary Lynn Turner's words, " I wanted a house that looked like we had rescued it, like we brought it back to life."
