Pintrested?

Happy Friday everyone! A few of you have been asking if we use Pintrest, of course we use Pintrest! If you have somehow missed the boat and have no idea what we're talking about, Pintrest is basically a virtual pin board where you can share your own images or "pin" other people's images (with proper citing of course) that inspire you. If you'd like to keep up with our latest pins, check them out here!

Home Theater Heaven

Generally speaking, home theater design feels a bit dull. The natural focus is the quality of sound and graphics, and often the design aesthetic is an afterthought. Although extremely comfortable, the over-sized recliners they usually contain are not the most attractive. Everything about the movie room below is refreshing and innovative. The colors are inviting and the seating constructed of recycled palettes (with built-in storage) makes the concept of a home theater affordable and accessible for us regular folks.

Fur Friday

In an effort to keep Friday fun and fresh, today we've got {faux} fur! Fur is not something we use or talk about commonly, but there is no denying what a {faux} fur can do to instantly glamorize a space, no matter what the style.

Before And After: Garage Edition

There are few things more exciting in this business than an excellent "before and after". What was once an old abandoned garage has been transformed into an enviable studio and living space by architects Brian Bell and David Yocum, check it out below.

Slab Story

Yesterday we took a trip to one of our stone distributors to look for some materials for one of our awesome clients kitchen remodel. While perusing aisle after aisle of slabs, we saw some pretty fun and unique stuff! They didn't quite work for the project at hand, but these bad boys are definitely sticking in our memory banks for future reference.

Barn Doors

Barn doors are great because they have the dramatic appeal of a large passageway without needing a tremendous amount of cleared space for the door swing. Essentially, they provide all of the benefits of a slider or pocket door but are usually far more unique and aesthetically pleasing.

Just Another Manic Monday

It is the first official work day since the time change, and although everyone is looking forward to the extended summer evenings, it sure does make waking up in the morning a little more difficult than usual. Even Maggie, our faithful office mascot seems a bit sleepier today. No time for drowsiness around here though, so bring on the caffeine!

Sucker For Succulents

It is no wonder that succulents have become such a popular plant; they are diverse in color, shape, and size and are nearly impossible to kill (a huge bonus for those of us not born with a green thumb). You can use them in your yard, as a centerpiece for a table, and even as an artistic focal point. Here are some of my current succulent lusts.

Antique Outpost

Ever wonder what the home of a Swedish antiquates expert might look like? Most of us were probably imagining something that felt much more like a museum, but owner Peter Pluntkys, a regular on the Swedish version of "Antiques Roadshow", believes his space should still be practical for living. He has created stimulating space that is bright, playful, and far from museum-like.

Arts and Crafts

I recently saw this idea for recipes on one of my biggest addiction sites, Pintrest. I can't wait to dig through some old family recipes and try a similar craft myself.

Pittsburg Cantilever

This Pittsburg home, recently featured in The New York Times, is a modern take on an old tradition: a business owner living above his shop. When owner Bob Zielinski first showed his idea of a 53 foot long residence cantilevered above his glass factory to contractors, they told him he would have to go the people who build bridges and highways to make it happen, and so he did. After three years of construction, the Zielinski’s now live in an industrial masterpiece that floats above the rest of the city and allows for a very quick commute to the office.

Ready, Set, Go!

The last few days we have been running around nonstop between meetings. Although it is always great to be out and about checking on our clients and projects, today is a much needed “lock ourselves in the office until every email is answered and every item on the to-do list is complete (ha!)” sort of day. Who knows, maybe we’ll finally even decide on a new paint color from the options we put up on the wall a several weeks ago.

The Chair With Many Names

I love the versatility of Butterfly chairs, also known as Hardoy chairs, sling chairs, and BKF chairs. Any chair with so many aliases has to be great right? They can be used indoors or out, folded up and stored easily, come in several frame finishes, and the covers can easily be changed. Best of all, they are affordable and very easy to find!

A Bright, Personal Touch

What was once an old barn is now a retreat for a family with deep-seated roots in the horse racing community. The bright pink and cobalt blue accents might seem odd to a stranger, but they hold a special significance to the family, whose old racing colors they were mimicked after.

WOOD You Be Mine?

As we all know, Valentine’s Day can get a bit cheesy, but these little trinkets put a fresh spin on the holiday that even the biggest naysayers can hopefully appreciate.

Frame Of Mind

Keeping your framing exposed is certainly one of the more clever (and cheap) design features I've seen in a while. Not only is it interesting to look at, it naturally makes the space feel larger and brighter.

Inspired Idea : Outdoor Draperies

Whether your outdoor space needs a pop of texture, color, or just additional privacy, outdoor drapery is a creative way to make it happen.
