Today color authority Pantone announced that its color of the year for 2011 is an intense pink it calls "honeysuckle." Pantone predicts that we're about to see a lot of this color, appearing on everything from designer pillows, water bottles, nail polish, sofas & appliances. This hue is a sherbety shade of pink, with a hint of red and orange zest, honeysuckle is seen by designers as a pick-me-up at a time when many people have had their fill of misfortune. The arrival of pink now doesn't mean that Turquoise the Pantone color of 2010 will disappear from the market, just that other shades of blue-green are expected to be popular in 2011.

I look forward to this! I love this shade of pink. However, I find it interesting that Honeysuckle is the name for a shade of pink/magenta. Honeysuckle makes me think of pale yellow, or a pale yellow-green.
